Juan Carlos Ferrero at the Davis Cup Final

Although Juan Carlos Ferrero didnt play at this Davis Cup final, there were some magic moments which he will remember forever, such us when the crowd shouted repeteadly his name again and again, making it clear that they also wanted to see Ferrero play.Another great moment was when David Ferrer dedicated his victory against Stepanek to Juan Carlos, showing how great friends they are.

Here you have a video which shows some great moments of Juan Carlos in this Davis Cup final.

Ferrero received this friday the award of "el rey Silo"

Juan Carlos Ferrero received this last friday in a town of Asturias the award of "el rey Silo",which each year is given to a different tennis player.JC was really happy of receiving this award,as he said that "it´s an honour for me to receive this award.I am really happy of being here and the receivement of the people towards me has been great".

Although Juan Carlos knows that it is going to be very difficult for him to have a chance of playing in the Davis Cup final,in one of the questions that a young tennis player did to him,we could see that JC is really happy of being in the team : "I have really good memories of the Davis Cup final i played at 2000 and i am looking forward to play in that great court,I will try to help the team in all the things i can.Although i hope that finally Verdasco can play,i will be there for everything".

In the rest of the day,JC did some photos with young future tennis players and they had a talk with him of how his tennis style is and what they need to do to finally be a profesional tennis player like JC.Ferrero said to them that hIs favourite style is being aggresive and hitting the ball hard and that if they want to be a tennis player, they must train really hard and have confidence on them.

Ferrero will finally go to the Davis Cup final as tha fifth player

Juan Carlos Ferrero has accepted the chance that Albert Costa gave to him to be part of the Spanish Davis Cup final team, although he will go as the fifth player, which makes it nearly imposible for him to play.If you analyse it,it is very unfair that JC will probably dont play in the final,as he was the one that saved Spain in quarterfinals when they played against Germany, winning the fifth match against Beck. Also,he gave Spain a crucial point in semifinals against Israel,so he deserves more, but at least he will have the opportunity to feel again those feelings he had when he gave Spain the first Davis Cup of their history, doing a great passing shot with his backhand.

Remember that this Davis Cup final will take place between the 4-6 of December.

Ferrero confirms his assistance to the Auckland Open, which will be played in January

Former world tennis No 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero has confirmed he will return to Auckland in January.Next years appareance will be his sixth appearance in Auckland, having first played in 2000 as a teenager, beating Swiss ace Roger Federer on an outside court and continuing to the quarterfinals.

He lost a tense 2008 final to Philipp Kohlschreiber and returned this year, with the pair meeting in the second round in what was one of the tournament highlights. Ferrero lost that match in a third set tiebreak.

Heineken Open tournament director Richard Palmer said Ferrero had a great pedigree at the tournament and around the world."You don't get to win a Grand Slam and be number one in the world without having exceptional talent and that's just what Ferrero has. He's also had a great year winning a title and making the quarters at Wimbledon. He's extremely popular with the crowd in Auckland and knows how to play and how to entertain.".

Ferrero in the main draw ceremony

Today, the main draw singles and doubles ceremony has been celebrated and as all of you know,Ferrero was there. It seems that he gave to him good luck in the main draw ceremony,as he will have a not-so-dificult player to play against in the first round of his tournament, the Valencia Open 500.

In first round he will play against Pablo Cuevas, which was borned in Argentina but now plays for Uruguay and who is ranked in the 49th position of the ATP rankings.Throughout the year,he has done some good results and he has a total year balance of 19 matches won and 12 lost.In the last two tournaments he played,he has done really good,as he reached quarterfinals in Moscow (two weeks ago) and he won the Challenger of Montevideo (in the 5th of October).

In this ceremony, also the doubles draw was selected. As JC comunicated months ago,he was going to play again doubles as it was a special tournament and he will play together with another Valencian player,David Ferrer. However, they will face a really difficult match in first round,as they will play against the fourth seeded players Damm and Knowle.

For lots of photos of the tournament and JC pictures in this Valencia Open 500,visit our media section.

Ferrero has a great draw in Stockholm

PD:Juan Carlos Ferrero will finally play his match of first round tomorrow wednesday against Baghdatis

Juan Carlos Ferrero should be very happy because of the nice draw he will have in the 250 open of Stockholm, where he is the third seeded player and he should win lots of points to improve ranking and try to reach de objective of beeing near to the Top 15.

This is the draw:

SODERLING, Robin [SWE, 1] vs Q
CRIVOI, Victor [ROM] vs SEPPI, Andreas [ITA]
GARCIA-LOPEZ, Guillermo [ESP] vs MARTIN, Alberto [ESP]
GREUL, Simon [GER] vs BECKER, Benjamin [GER, 6]

FERRERO, Juan Carlos [ESP, 3] vs BAGHDATIS, Marcos [CYP]
KENDRICK, Robert [USA] vs HERNANDEZ, Oscar [ESP]
Q vs Q
Q vs BECK, Andreas [GER, 5]

As you can see,Juan Carlos will play in first round against Marcos Baghdatis,a difficult match as Marcos won this last week a Challenger and he nearly won Nadal weeks ago.If JC wins this match (which he shouldd),then he will have some nice matches and he should reach at least semifinals, where he will probably play against the fisrt seeded player,Robin Soderling.

JC´s match will be tomorrow,so we will know this night at whhat time his match is.

Ferrero vs Verdasco,Court 2

Tomorrow,Ferrero will play his match against Fenando Verdasco in Court 2.The match will take placed around 2:00 pm (british hour) and as it is in Court 2,there is no tv coevrage so we only can watch the live scoring at the scoreboard of the ATP

Ferrero wins a difficult match against Almagro by 7-5 7-6

Once more,Juan Carlos Ferrero played really good to win a tough player like Almagro, who played really aggresive and played lots of powerful shots, but JC´s mentality was much better than Nico´s and finally Juan Carlos won a very interesting match.Throughout both sets,Juan Carlos served really good (9 aces) and he won most of the important points (he saved 8 break points and only let Nico break his serve once).

At the start of the first set, everything was really equal but Almagro was the one who had the first break point, which Ferrero saved.Throughout all the set,we could see that Almagro tried to move Juan Carlos, but JC dindt get trapped in this strategy and he hitted the ball as near to the baseline he could,to avoid that Almagro had easy shots.Following this strategy, when everything looked as if the set was going to be decided in the tie break,Almagro´s head went off and he started to do some unforced errors, which JC takes advantage of and he finally won the first set by 7-5.

In the second set,Juan Carlos started really good, winning his first service to love and then having an advantage of 00-30,but Almagro woked up and he finally won his serve and put Ferrero in a lot of pressure in his second serve of the second set, where he finally won a break point, meaning that he was leading the set by 1-2*.Almagro won his next serve really easily and Ferrero looked as if he was giving away this set,but once more, his mentality change into a winner mentality and in the precise moment of the set,in the last chance he had (4-5*),he started playing really good and got a break which was really important,as he saved the second set and faced the last part of thi set with more confidence. Both players won their serves, although not easily,as Ferrero had to save about six cahnces of break that Almagro had.In the start of the tie break, everything went really good,as JC was leading by 2*-1.It was really clear to see that Ferrero played much better the tie break than Nico,as he played in a secure way, avoiding doing an unforced error, which was completely the opposite to Nico, who played all along the tie break with really powerful shots, but more than half of them hitted the net. Finally,Juan Carlos won the TB by 7-3 and the set by 7-6.

It was really good to see so much people supporting JC,with posters, photos, spanish flags....

Ferrero will play today against Almagro in first round

Yesterday, the main draw of the China Open was out and more or less is a tough draw, but Ferrero should win his match of first round:

SODERLING, Robin SWE v CHARDY, Jeremy FRA
ROBREDO, Tommy ESP v BECKER, Benjamin GER
MATHIEU, Paul-Henri FRA v LJUBICIC, Ivan CRO
QUALIFIER v RODDICK, Andy USA

VERDASCO, Fernando ESP v QUALIFIER
ALMAGRO, Nicolas ESP v FERRERO, Juan Carlos ESP
QUALIFIER v TROICKI, Viktor SRB
HANESCU, Victor ROU v DJOKOVIC, Novak SRB

As you can see,in first round,Ferrero will play against the spanish Nico Almagro, who is actually the 29th of the ATP ranking. In the Head to Head,Almagro wins 2-0,but both matches where played in 2006,so as both of them have changed and Ferrero is playing much better than in 2006,its probable that this statistic will change today.

The match between Juan Carlos Ferrero and Nico Almagro will be played today at more or less 3:00 pm (british hour) and although it will be played in the centre court,it is not clear if it will be possible to watch it in tv as most of the tv broadcast will start showing matches in the last 16 round. If you dont find a place to see it,you can watch the live scoring of the match in the scoreboard of the ATP.

PD:There is a chinese web where probably the match of Juan Carlos will be shown.Once you go in,you only need to install a plugin which the web will provide you by a menu which will go out in the top of the page.Once yo have installed, just ckick in the center of the black square and it will start buffering and then you will be able to see tennis.Link here.

If you can not see it here, then you can find links to pages where you can see it,such as rojadirecta or myP2P

Ferrero will play the Masters of Bilbao which will take place in December

In December,Ferrero will play the Masters of Bilbao, which will take place between the 11 and 13 of December,a great opportunity for him to do well in the pre-season.Last year,Juan Carlos played in the first edition of this tournament, where he reached semifinals, loosing against Robredo in a very equal and excited match.

In the edition of this year, other players which will also play in this Masters will be Verdasco,Ferrer,Robredo and Feliciano Lopez.

China Open 500

After Juan Carlos has taken some days off to have some holidays,he will play next week in the China Open 500,which will take place in Beijing. In this tournament, both WTA and ATP players will play in the same week and as the Open is in the category of 500,the winner will win 500 points.

Ths most important players which will play in this tournament will be (in order of ranking):
1)Nadal
2)Djokovic
3)Roddick
4)Davydenko
5)Verdasco
6)Gonzalez
8)Robredo
9)Ferrer
13)J.C.Ferrero

Considering it is an Open 500,its really good that Juan Carlos is the thirdteenth player with best ranking.JC doesnt defend any points in this tournament, but seeing that he will loss 20 points in two weeks,it is necessary that he does a great week so that his spectacular improvement in the ranking can continue. Now,Juan Carlos is in the 21 position of the ranking and he has only a difference of 100 points with the 20th player of the ranking and he has 90 points more than the 22th player.

Ferrero wil play doubles with Ferrer in Valencia

This thursday became oficial that Juan Carlos Ferrero and David Ferrer will play together in doubles in the Open 500 of Valencia. As they both said, they are doing this because its a really good ocasion to play together as they will be in a very special place for them. This means that Juan Carlos will play again doubles after not playing in this category since a lot time ago. This feeling will be more or less new for Juan Carlos,as probably he hasnt played more than 30 doubles matches in his career, the last one long ago.

This weekend, both Juan Carlos and David Ferrer also met in a meeting thay had with the president of the Comunidad Valenciana (Francisco Camps) on the Valencia Club of tennis to discuss how the future tournament of Valencia was going.Everyone was amazed by the great quality level of all the players who will play in this tournament, being its first edition, which is very surprising.

Finally,Ferrero showed to everyone in his blog which will be his next three tournaments that he will play, which will be:
1)Beijing
2)Shangai
3)Estocolmo

Two days left to see Ferrero again in the Davis Cup

Only two days remain to see again Juan Carlos Ferrero play in the semifinals of the Davis Cup,where Spain plays against Israel for a place in the final.Ferrero will play a really important part in this round before the final as he will be one of the two players that will play the singles, just as David Ferrer.

Remember that if in this round Spain wins,Ferrero will be really close to win again another Davis Cup.Good luck Juan Carlos!!

Friday, September 11, 2009

Ferrero will go to the Davis Cup and will go into the 21th position of the ATP ranking

Finally,Juan Carlos Ferrero will take part in the Davis Cup semifinals that the Spanish team need to play against Israel.Firstly,Albert Costa told Ferrero that he was not going because he needed a player for the doubles, but he wanted that JC was prepared in case there was necesity and JC had to play in Murcia.

This has happened,as Nadal will not take part due to physical problems, although he is still playing at the US Open.In theory,as Nadal and Verdasco are both not playing,JC has high chances of playing the singles,on which we hope he can win the two points and he can be again the spanish hero of the Davis Cup.

Also, there is a very good notice.Because of the great tournament Ferrero did at the US Open, reaching 1/8 finals,he has gained 180 points which will let him improve his ranking into the 21st position and he will be at less than 100 points of the TOP 20 players, one of his aims to be at when the season finishes.

Ferrero wins against G.Simon by 1-6 6-4 7-6 1-0 ret

Juan Carlos Ferrero is through to the fourth round of the US Open for the first time since his run through to the final in 2003 (l. to Roddick). The Spaniard advanced Sunday in New York at the expense of ninth-seeded Frenchman Gilles Simon, who was forced to retire with a right leg injury with Ferrero leading 1-6, 6-4, 7-6(5), 1-0.

Former World No. 1 Ferrero has staged a mighty resurgence into the upper echelons of the ATP World Tour in 2009, highlighted by ending a six-year title drought in Casablanca (d. Serra), and has now reached the fourth round at two Grand Slams in the same year for the first time since his career-best season in 2003.

The Villena resident, who was a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon two months ago (l. to Murray), peaked at No. 1 in the South African Airways ATP Rankings on 8 September 2003 – the same year he won his first major title at Roland Garros (d. Verkerk) and finished runner-up to Andy Roddick at Flushing Meadows. He dropped to No. 115 on 6 April this year – his lowest ranking in 10 years – but has since recovered his position to No. 25.

“Physically I'm completely different,” said Ferrero, in attributing his success this season. “I'm feeling great on the court, so I can play a lot of rallies as long as it is. I recovered well after matches, so that's the big difference in maybe couple of years.”

Despite a slow start for Ferrero in the first match of the day on the Louis Armstrong Stadium, the Spaniard had hit back well to take a two-set-to-one lead over Simon – who sustained his injury in the latter stages of the third set. Ferrero had broken to lead 1-0 in the fourth set when Simon was forced to concede defeat. The Frenchman has also performed well in Grand Slam competition in 2009, reaching his first quarter-final at the Australian Open (l. to Nadal) and the fourth round for the first time at Wimbledon, where he also fell victim to Ferrero.

Ferrero will play in first round of the US Open against Santoro

After having a short holiday,Juan Carlos Ferrero will come back to the courts this week,at New York, where he will play the fourth grandslam of the year, the US Open. This grandslam is very important for him:

1)He needs to obtain a good result so that he has good options to be a member of the Davis Cup team which will play in september the semifinals against Israel.Ferrero needs a better result than players like Verdasco,Robredo,Ferrer...so that he can be again at the Davis Cup and why not,be again the hero of the spanish team.

2)JC again will play a granslam being a seeded player, which didnt happen since Roland Garros, where his poor ranking made him pass to Main draw with a wildcard. Also, remember that last year he didnt play at US Open,so he doesnt defend any point,so he needs a good performance to improve his ranking to the 22 position.

As an overall,JC has a nice draw, with easy matches in first and second round:

6] Del Potro vs Monaco
Melzer vs Safin
Cuevas vs Guccione
Koellerer vs [25] Fish

[24] Ferrero vs Santoro
Petzschner vs Stakhovsky
Q vs Lu
Ginemo-Traver vs [9] Simon

[16] Cilic vs Sweeting
Gabashvili vs Levine
Istomin vs Evans
Lapentti vs [19] Wawrinka

[27] Karlovic vs Navarro
Lopez vs Dent
Capdeville vs Crivoi
Gulbis vs [2] Murray

As you can see, once more this year,Ferrero will play against Santoro,a player who he meet twice in this year, both times in grandslams (at Australian Open, where he lost to him and at Wimbledon, where he easily won the frenchmen)

JC does a great tournament at Montreal and improves more his ranking

JC Ferrero did a great job in the Masters 1000 of Montreal, where he lost in the third round against Murray, who would finally won this tournament.

Firstly,JC needed to won his two matches of the qualies so that he could enter the main draw.He easily won both of these matches. The first won was won in 39 minutes and in the second one only one set was played,as his opponent had physical problems and couldnt continue playing.

In the main draw,Ferrero played first round against a well known australian player:Lleyton Hewitt, who was doing some great results in the last tournaments. However,Ferrero once more showed his great quality and his great confidence he has on his self and he easily won the first set.In the second one,Lleyton started to put more power on his shots.Although the australian started to play better,JC demostrated that he should go to the Davis Cup semifinals and played at a really high level of tennis, where Hewitt couldnt stop him and finally won the second set by 6-4

On the second round,Ferrero played against another really difficult player, the french Gael Monfils, who is ranked the 13th of the world. On the first set, both players started playing really well, but Ferrero was the one who started to dominate the rallies and he finally won the first set.On the second set,the level of quality rised and the rallies became long and contained some wonderful shots, one of them being a fifty stroke rally.Gradually,it seemed that Monfils was the one that dominated the second set,but JC tried to hold on as much as he could and he finally won the match at the tie break, where he started loosing by 5-3 but finally won it by 9-7

Ferrero´s run at Montreal ended on the third round,on a match where he couldnt do nothing to win,as Murray played too well and Ferrero was also a bit tired after playing 5 consecutive matches that week.

This excellent results made JC improve once more his ranking and he is now in the 25th position of the ATP ranking. As he is not far away of points from the 24 and 23 position,it is not imposible for him to go into the 23 position after playing the US OPEN,where he doesnt defend any point.

Juan Carlos easily wins Hewitt by 6-1 6-4

Yesterday,JC won his match more easily than expected against Lleyton Hewitt.

In the first set,JC started really well, showing some great winners and also showing his great confidence that he has,as he went out to the court knowing he could win the match. We could see this because as soon the match started Ferrero started to dominate in the points,to make Lleyton move around the court and it was him who was constantly doing the winner and making the australian do errors.

On the second set,JC started well but the match changed as Hewitt started playing with more confidence and he putted more power to his forehand, making Ferrero suffer when hitting with the backhand.

Today Ferrero will play against Monfils at 18:00 british hour and the match can be followed at BET365 or by a link at Myp2p or P2P4u

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

Ferrero wins Lapentti by 6-4 6-7 6-0 and will play against Robredo

Yesterday,Juan Carlos Ferrero won his match against Lapentti in a match that becomed more complecated than expected as Ferrero needed to win the third set to pass into the second round.

Both of the players served well in the match, but the one who did more aces was Lapentti, who ended the match with 10 aces. However, the key point of the math was that Ferrero saved all the break points Nicolas had (8) and he converted all his break points, which showed that he was more focused on the deuce than Lapentti

This night JC will play against the spaniard Robredo, who didnt played first round as he is a seeded player.Tha match will be around 9:00 pm (british hour) and as there is no tv coverage until friday,we will need to follow the macth at the scoreboard of the ATP.

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

Ferrero will play at Washington against Lapentti in first round

After loosing the final of Umag,Ferrero will play the tournament of Washington DC (500).He has a hard draw,as in the second round he would play against Robredo and if winning against Haas.

However,in the first round he will play against the Nicolas Lapentti, who is currently going down at the ranking (174 position).Despite his current ranking position,he has done a good season,as he reached semifinals at Costa du Sauipe, quarterfinals at Cincinatti and thrid round at Barcelona and Roland Garros.
In this year,he has won 8 matches and lost 11 and as he is not well ranked,he has played some challenger tournaments.

In conclusion,Ferrero should easily win Lapentti. His match against Nico will be today not before 5:00 pm washington hour (11:00 pm spanish hour). We will need to follow the score live at the scoreboard of the ATP as there is no tv coverage of the tournament until friday.

Ferrero wins a difficult match against Youzhny and will play against Santoro

Yesterday,Ferrero showed all his quality in a very equalized match against the rusian Youzhny by 6-3 7-6 6-3.This is a very important win as this makes Ferrero have a nice draw which will probably let him go far away in the draw, making him gain more points and therefore improve his ranking. Also,as he is now in the second round of Wimbledon,if he losses next match (where he will play against Santoro),he will not loose positions in the ranking as last year he reached the second round. His next obstacle will be the frenchman Santoro, which he played against in Australia in the beggining of the yaer, but JC was in different conditions,as in February he didnt had any motivation and he was thinking wether to retire or not at the end of the year. However,he is now enjoying his tennis and one evidence of this is that he is always smilling and that in the interview to the prees yesterday,he said that his objective was to finish the year near the Top10,which clearly means he will not retire at the end of the year :)

Ferrero started the match as he usually does, loosing his serve as he was playing as if he didnt know what to do.This meant that he started loosing by 0-2.However,he changed his mind and he started to play very aggresively and leading himself the points, which made the rusian had no option of winning lots of points to JC and Ferrero went to lead the set by 5-2.The rusian won his serve saving one set point, but then Ferrero used his serve doing to aces to end the first set by 6-3-

On the second set,the rusian started completely lost, doing unforced errors in easy points and not having control on his forehand,However,he used his serve all along the set to continue being alive in the set.Ferrero continued doing lots of winners (mainly on his forehand) and they both went into tie break. As soon as it started,we could clearly see the role of each one,as the rusian was the one who was loosing all the points and Ferrero kept in the baseline, finishing most of the points doing passing shots.

On the third and last set,Youzhny knew he was going nowhere with his type of play and he started hitting the ball harder and he also begun to do winners with his backhand. He kept on control on his serves game until in the 3-3,where Juan Carlos started doing some wonderful winners with both backhand and forehand and he finally broked Youzhny´s serve. He ended the macth with two aces on his last serve game, winning a very important match which will probably have given him lots of confidence.

Ferrero will play today first round of Wimbledon against Youzhny

Juan Carlos Ferrero will start his participation in this grass Grand Slam today against a really difficult opponent, the rusian Mikhail Youzhny, who is currently ranked 44 in the ATP ranking and who is doing a very irregular year,as he did some wonderful results (like in Munich, where he reached the final, where he lost to Berdych) and also he has done some very poor results (for example in two of the lasts tournaments he has played, in Roland Garros loosing agaisnt Hanescu or Eastbourne, where he lost if first round against Benneteau).

The rusian is always a really dificult opponent as he is capable of the best and of the worst. His backhand is really powerful and really dificult to return back,as he uses a spin which makes the ball bounce just in the end line with lots of force on it,making the player lots of times loos the point.Another shot JC needs to be careful with is with the rusian´s forehand,as when he hits it with the backhand he is really aggresive and most of the time he uses it to make lots of winners.

However, the key point which Ferrero needs to use to win the rusian is that Youzhny´s mentality is very irregular as he can sometimes play really well and suddenly he stops being concentrated and he starts loosing lots of points. If Ferrero plays aggresively and stays mentaly on the game,JC has high chances of winning the match.Another aspect that JC needs to improve form his last natch in grass against Murray is his serve,as if he serve well, doing lots of aces, the rusian will not have lots of chances of breaking JC´s serve.

The match will be played in Court 1,where there is tv coverage.More or less, the match will be played at 5:30 (british hour).Check the links of all of this pages to find a link that shows the match. Myp2p,livesport,balkansport,rojadirecta.

Ferrero wins Malisse and will play against Darcis for a place into the semifinals

Juan Carlos Ferrero won yesterday a very hard match against the belgian Xavier Malisse. In the first set,Ferrero realised how to break the belgians serve and did that to win the first serve by 6-4.In the second one, both players played large rallies and everything become solved in the tie break, where Ferrero used his good mentality to win it.

Today Ferrero plays against anothers belgian,Steve Darcis, who is very well known for always fighting all the points very hard and also for doing a very aggresive play when he is not playing well. The match will be at 12:·30 british hour and it can be seen in Eurosport or in Bet 365

Ferrero wins Mathieu and goes to third round

Yesterday,Ferrero demostrated why he continues to be such a great player as he won a very difficult match against the french Paul Henri Mathieu,37 on the ranking and eleven seeded in Queens. The result of the match was 6-4 6-4.Today he will play against Xavier Malisse, which comes from the qualies but wh is doing a great tournament, showinh that grass is his best surface and that he is reallydangerous in this surface.Tha match will be more or less at 2:00 pm british hour (although the time of the start of the match will depend of the weather,as it might rain). As the match is on the Court 1,there is no tv coverage and we will have to follow it by the scoreboard of the ATP.

On yesterdays match,JC kept motivated and with lots of self-confidence two win a very hard and equal match, going one step further in the draw and therefore more points for the ranking. The key of the match was that Juan Carlos made lots of preesure on the french man in the key moments of the match, playing very aggresively and doing breaks in the important times (such us in the start of both sets). His forehand was great and he did some spectacular winners. His backhand was ok,as always and his serve was amazing, serving 15 ACES!!,which shows that he is improving his serves,as he did also some aces in second serves. This is really imporatant as in grass the serve is key factor to win a match.

Good uck on todays match Juanqui!!!

Ferrero beats Grosjean and reaches his 400th victory

With yesterday´s match,Ferrero reached his victory number 400 of his career, which is something which not all players can say.His stadistics are wonderful,as he has only lost 214 matches in his career, which means that in all the time he has been `playing tennis profesionally,he has had thwo times more wins than losses, making it a great player.Nowadays statistics are also great. He has won 14 matches and lost 9,having a positive balance, which is the one that has maked him go up in the ranking as this weekhe has reached the position number 90 of the ranking and until most of the season that i left to play,he doesn´t defend any point so his ranking is only going to go up.

In yesterday´s match,Ferrero was clearly the one who was dominating the match,as he never puat risk his serve and he had lots of break point in his favour. He did some magnificent winners, and he served really well, winning lots of service points.Another aspect that maked him won was that he was very confident in himself,as he rarely lost a esay point and he kept all the match concentrated and doing great shots.

Todays match of Juan Carlos will be against the french Paul Henri Mathieu, currently ranked 37 on the ATP ranking. In the last few tournaments, his level has gone down and he is not having that confidence wich madehim have oppourtunities in all the matches. An example of this strang level of te frenchman is that he suffered a lot in the first round to won Andrei Pavel who is ranked 911 of the world

Todays match will be more or less around 4:30 pm (british hour and as it is going to be played in the court number 1,wewill need to follow the match on the live scoreboard of the ATP.

Good luck Juanqui!

Ferrero vs Kolschreiber, today on court 17 around 18:30

After the magnificent match Ferrero did in tuesday against the croatian Ljubicic, the organization of Roland Garros has shown his lack of respect to Juan Carlos by putting his match n the last court, where there is no tv coverage. This has happened because the organisation prefer to put in the main courts french players than matches where the good show is guaranteed.

As the match is on court 17,the only way to follow the match will be once more by the live scoring of the Roland Garros (here).Once you are in the main page, you just simply need to click on live scores (top right) and a new page will open with all the scores of all the courts. The click into the arrow pointing to the right which is in the right side of the middel of the page and when you see court 17,click on it so that you can see the livescores of the match and really detailed statistics

Ferrero wins an extraordinary match against Ljubicic in 5 sets

Yesterday,Ferrero showed why he is one of the most dificult players to beat in clay, especially in Roland Garros,by winning in 5 tied sets to the croatian Ivan Ljubicic.

Ferrero started de match very well, having 3 break points, but Ljubicic won them by showing his powerful serve and ended winning the first game of the match. After loosing those important points in the first game,Ferrero becamed a little bit confused and Ivan took benefit of these and did a break, which made him lead the first set by 2-0.Throughout the hole first set,Ljubicic mantained his good level and he won the first set by 6-2.

In the second set, everything changed completely.Ferrero became more secure of himself and started to do some great forehands and backhands. In the first game of the second set,Ferrero did a really important break, which maked him lead the second set by 3-1.In the first two serving games for Ferrero of the second set,he served really good, having a 92 % of first serves. Finally,Juan Carlos won the second set by 6-4

In the third set, everything started really equal and both players where playing a high level of tennis. Both players mantained their first serve, and they started the set by 1-1.At this moment,Ferrero started playing more aggresively and this took a great result,as he achieved a really important break which make him lead the set by 2-1.The rest of the third set,Ferrero mantained his agressive play and dominated all the rest of set,and finally he won it by 6-4.

In the fourth set the croatian woke up and reacted very aggresively, doing lots of aces and imrovuing his percentage of both first and second serves. The set ended with 6-3 for Ljubicic.

In the fifth and final set, some extraordinary tennis was played and the quality level was so high that at the end of the match,it was named as the best quality match of this year in Roland Garros.Firstly,Ljubicic obtained a break when Ferrero was playing a good tennis, but the JC reacted by doing a excellent quality of tennis wich maked him do two breaks on Ljubicic´s serve. Finally,Juan Carlos won his last serve by doind an ace and the match ended up in a excellent way,as Ferrero worked bery hard and finally obtained the wn of a very difficult macth

Ferrero prepares for Roland Garros

Next week, one of the most important event of the tennis calendar will take place:Roland Garros,a place where Ferrero reached the final two times,on which one of them he won.

Now,everything has changed,Ferrero is down in the ranking, but this is the perfect place for him to return to where he should be,in the Top 20.We say that this is the perfect place because he doenst defend any point, which means that if he can get at least to the second round,he will won some points, which will make him go up in the ranking.

Last year,in Roland Garros,he played the tournament after coming from an injury. In the first match,we could see that he didnt recover from the injury as he had to withdraw from the match in the second set when he was playing against the brazilian Marcos Daniel. This injury was the one that didnt let him play in lots of months and which maked him go down in the ranking.

We hope that this year,JC gets a nice draw and that he can at least go to second round,so that he starts to go up in the ranking.

Ferrero prepairs for Madrid

After loosing in a really difficult match against Davydenko (whee he really played well in the first set and he nearly won it),Ferrero is prepared for the next tournament, which is going to be very special for him,the new Madrid Open.

As an overall, the draw for Juan Carlos is really tough,as in all the ronds he would hav a really difficult player to play against (like Verdasco or Nadal). In the first round,he is going to play against Kunitsyn, the one who won Juan Carlos in Barcelona. But this time, everything is going to change,as Ferrero now knows ho to play him and also because the crowd in Madrid is really going to cheer him,as he is one of the idols of the Madrid people.

As you will see know, the draw is really difficult,if Ferrero won at least in firs round,it will be a positive result.Draw of tournament:

[1] Nadal vs BYE
Melzer vs Montanes
Kohlschreiber vs Almagro
Granollers vs [13] Cilic

[12] Ferrer vs Q
Lopez vs Monaco
Kunitsyn vs Ferrero

Ferrero wins against Kukushkin and will play in second round against Davydenko

Today,Ferrero has won his match against the unknown Kukushkin by 7-6 6-3.Throughout the match,Ferrero has only lost once his serve,in the first set.His serves has been great, with 5 aces,i double fault and a really high percentage of first serves won.Theonly moment of the match on which there has been worrying of Ferrero to struggle has been in the tie break, where he started loosing 2-0,but finally recoverd to win it 7-5.In the second set,he has displayed a secure tennis, which has given him the chance to win the match.

In the next round he will play against Nikolai Davydenko. In todays match,Davydenko won easily Golubev, although there where moments on which Golubev tried to do breaks, but Davydenko showed his power and didnt let him.In the Head to Head,Ferrero leads by 2-1,although the last time they meet (4 years ago) Davydenko won.

Ferrero´s match will be tomorrow at more or less 5:00 pm spanish hour (4:00 pm british hour). There isnt a place to see the match yet.The best thing to do is to see in here whether the match is in broadcast or not.

Ferrero in Estoril

Ferrero will play today his match of first round against a unknown player which has done this year some good results,kUKUSHKIN.He is now ranked 183 but he is climbing up in the ranking week by week.In theory,Ferrero should be ale to win it,but who knowa, each time he has an "easy" player, they do the match of their lives. The match will be more or less at 3:30 pm spanish hour (around 2:30 british hour) and as he plays in the second court,we can only see the matcho on live in the scoreboard of the ATP.

After loosing in Rome in the second round of the qualies against Zverev, who did a great tournament and reached quarter finals,Ferrero will play this week the Estoril 250 Open.

In Estoril,Juan Carlos needs to do a great result as he defends the points from Rome of last year (150 points),so he needs to reach as far as he can so that he doesnt loose so much points.

The draw for Juanqui is a little bit tough, although if he wins in second round he has a perfect draw.In first round he will play against a player form the qualy. In second round,he will probably play against Davydenko, second seeded, who is not doing great results in this season but who always is a very difficult opponent.Juan Carlos first match will be in tuesday,so he has one day more to train hard to play as best as he can this week.

Ferrero will start tomorrow de qualies on the Open1000 of Rome

Ferrero will play tomorrow in Rome the first round of the qualies against Paul Capdeville,a player which he hasn´t played yet in all his career and which is in the best ranking on which he has been.He is in the 87th position and he has done some good results in this year (like quarter finals in Viña del Mar or final in the Challenger of Sao Paulo).

Tha mtch will be tomorrow more or less at 4:00 pm (spanish hour,3:00 om british hour). As it is qualies, probably the match will not be in tv so we will probably need to vies the livescore of the ATP.

Tha draw for qualies has been great. If he wins tomorrows match,he will need to play against the winner of Ramirez Hidalgo vs Zverev. Then,if he wions that match,he will pass to main draw.

C´mon Ferreroooo!!!

Ferrero will play in first round against Kunitsyn

Juan Carlos Ferrro will play this week in the Barcelona´s Open (the Conde de Godo),a tournament which admires him because of being a champion, because of playing memorable matchs and also because of the good relationship he has with it´s director,Albert Costa.

In the first round he will play against the rusian Igor Kunitsyn,a player which Ferrero has never play against so it will be more or less a completely unknown player for Ferrero. This player is now playing the best tennis of his career,as he is on the best ranking of his life (37).His best result on the year has been aquarter final in Memphis. This year,he has a negative balace,as he has 4 wins and 8 losses this year,so in theory it will not be a difficult opponent for Ferrero.

The match will be at 16:45 (spanish hour,15:45 british hour)

Ferrero wins the tournament of Casablanca

Juan Carlos Ferrero snapped a title drought dating back to October 2003 by defeating fifth-seeded Frenchman Florent Serra 6-4, 7-5 on Sunday in the final of the Grand Prix Hassan II in Casablanca to win the ATP World Tour 250 tennis tournament.Victory for Ferrero earns him 250 South African Airways 2009 ATP Ranking points and €71,700 in prize money

Ferrero was returning to Casablanca for the first time since making his ATP World Tour debut there as a 19 year old, when he reached the semi-finals (l. to A. Martin).
"This is a special tournament for me," said Ferrero. "Ten years ago I played my first ATP World Tour tournament here and now I'm back winning the title. I'm very happy, it was a great week for me."

Two breaks were exchanged early in the first set before Ferrero earned a decisive third break to close out a one-set lead 6-4. The players swapped two more breaks of serve in the second set before Ferrero once again made a key breakthrough in the 11th game to lead 6-5. The Villena resident then served out his first victory in three meetings with Serra after one hour and 36 minutes.

"It wasn't easy because Florent was playing very aggressively and I felt a lot of pressure," said Ferrero. "I wanted to take my chances and finally I could win which makes me very happy." "It is very important for my confidence that I won this tournament. This helps a lot coming back from an injury."

Ferrero is closing on his 400th tour-level match win. Victory in Casablanca took the Spaniard to a 396-210 record. His match record in 2009 stands at 10-5, highlighted up till now by quarter-final showings at Costa do Sauipe (l. to Bellucci) and Buenos Aires (l. to Nalbandian).

At No. 115 in the South African Airways 2009 ATP Rankings, Ferrero is the lowest-ranked winner on the ATP World Tour this year. The only other player ranked outside the Top 100 to reach a final was Somdev Devvarman in Chennai (l. to Cilic)

C´mon Juan Carlos, enjoy your win and hope that you can do also another great result next week in Barcelona!!

Ferrero beats Hanescu by 6-3 7-5 and will play in semis against Andreev

Today Ferrero has done a wonderful match, with a very aggresive play and with a very consistant first serve.

In the first match, once more Ferrero started witha lot of confidence and he rapidly lead in the set by 4-0.The rumanian player tried to recover by doing less unforced errors, but Ferrero saw his new tactic and he started to move Hanescu around all the court, varying widely his shots. Finally,he served perfectly to win the first serve by 6-3

In the second serve, everything changed and Hanescu gained confidence and played a more serius tennis than before.Ferrero was the one that was always leading the point, but when he had a break point, the rumanian served powerfully and then he won the game. This all changed when they where 6-5,serving Hanescu. He was winning by 40-15 and was very near to force a tie break, but Ferrero put pressure on him and forced de deuce, where he played confidently and with a forehand winner he reached and advantage and finally he won thefinal game by doing a wonderful deep forehand that Hanescu couldn´t return back.

His next opponent will be Andreev, who has won easily to Gicquel in less than an hour.He is currently in the Top 30 and he has done an irregular tournament,as he nearly lost in first round but since then,he has done good matches. He most dangerous shots are the forehand (which is very deep) and his first serve.Hope tomorrow he continues with his irregularity and that Ferrero plays like today, with lots of confidence and with a powerful forehand.

The match will be more or less at about 5:00 pm(spanish hour,it will be more or less at 4:00 pm in british hour). The match can be followed in BET365).

C´mon Ferrero!!!

Ferrero beats Starace by 6-4 7-6 and will play quarterfinals against Hanescu

Ferrero´s match will be tomorrow more or less at 2:30pm (british hour, spanish hour will be at 3:30 pm).You can see the match by BET365

Yesterday Ferrero did once more a great match with a great and deep forehand and won a very complicated match against Starace.

In te first set,Juan Carlos did a perfect start, winning two breaks points and leading by 4-0.However,the itaian player waked up and played very aggresively, making Ferrero loss control of the game until he equalised the set 4-4.At this point the match once more changed,as Ferrero started dong some great forehand winners and serving with first serves,by which he won the first set.

Th secong set started badly for Ferrero,as Starace was putting lots of pressure on JC and he had chances to do break, but Ferrero succesfully stayed in the set and got some confidence. Finally, both players forced to get to the tie break, where it seemed that Starace had more confidence than Ferrero after doing a break. However he only won one point, the first one.Ferrero kept in the baseline and the italian player made lots of uforced errors, which Ferrero took benefit of and won the tie break by 7-1.

His next opponent will be Hanescu, who won easily his match against the spanish Navarro by 6-1 6-0.The most important things that makes Hanescu win matches is his powerful serve and also his backhand (mostly when he has confidence,as he can do impossible shots when he has confidence and motivation).

We will know at which time the match is later, when the schedule is released by the ATP.

Ferrero wins against Rochus and will play in second round against Starace

Today Ferrero has won Christophe Rochus by 6-2 6-3 in a easy match on which has won in 1 hour.He has served really well (doing 9 aces with only one double fault and winning more than 70% of his serves).n the match he has done 5 break points, which is a really great thing to do against the 61 ranked player of the ATP.

His next opponent is position 90 of the ATP rankings, the italian Potito Starace. In the Head-to-Head,Ferrero has won 3 matches against the italian and has only lost one,two years go in Rome.In all their matches there has been lots of equality as in most of them there has been 3 sets played.

Ferrero´s match will be around 18:15 (spanish hour, check your timezone in xscores) due to the long matches there have been played before Ferrero´s one and it will be played in centre court,so we will be able to watch the match in BET365

Herer there is a video on which you can see how is the style of play of Starace.

We now know at which hour Ferrero´s match will be.

Juan Carlos first match will be more or less at 3:00 pm spanish hour,2:00 pm in British hour (you can check the hour for your country here, pressing in time zone) and it will be played in Court 2,as the organization has moved all the matches involving national players to Court 1.As it is in Court 2,there is no tv live coverage,so we will need to follow the scores in the live scores of the ATP.

Good luck Juan Carlos!!

Analysis of Christophe Rochus, opponent of Ferrero in first round

Tommorrow Ferrero will play against C.Rochus, which is the seventh seeded player of the tournament.Although Christophe is 61 in the ranking,he has worst statistics than Ferrero in the Year-to-date results. His percentage of first serve is of 60 % (whilst Ferrero has a 67%).Another important fact is that Rochus ha s a 69 % on winning his serving games (whilst Ferrero has a great 78%),which shows us that if Ferrero has confidence and becomes a little bit agressive in his game,he will have lots of opportunities of having break options.

The belgian player has obtained some goods resulys this year (as he reached semifinals in Delray Beach and quarter finals in Memphis). However,he has a negative balance in winning matches this year (as he has won 6 and he has lost 8).This is beacuse he is normally a player that competes in Chellengers,s he should not be a difficult opponent for Ferrero.

The last time they played where in Valencia, long time ago in 2003,where Ferrero won him in the final by 6-2 6-4.

In conclusion,he should not be a great problem for Ferrero to win.As Rochus doesn´t have a great serve,Ferrero should have lots of chances of winning the match. In here you can see a video that shows how Christophe Rochus plays, and you can see his serve, his forehand and his backhand.Enjoy it.

Ferrero obtains a WC for the Open 500 of Barcelona

Juan Carlos Ferrero has been awarded with a WildCard for the Barcelona Open 500 that will start in the 16th of April.Ferrero asked for the Wild Card and the tournament inmediatly told him that he could count on it,which shows how much respect the Barcelona´s Open has on Ferrero, specially Albert Costa, which in a interview said ("“We all know how important Juan Carlos is to Spanish tennis. Due to niggling injuries in recent months at unfortunate times, his ranking has dropped to a point where he could not gain direct entry to the draw but nobody considers his real level to equate to his current ranking").

Another news about Ferrero´s next tournamentsis that he has claimed for a WC in Estoril, where hi has high chances of getting it as he once won that tournament.

Hope Ferrero´s hard work can be seen in Casablanca, where hi has really high chances of getting a great result.

Ferrero starts the training on court and prepares for Casablanca

As you will know,Ferrero is in Spain, training again to reach the high level at which he was playing in South America,on which he reached 2 quarter finals.By what he says in his blog, the injury he had in Acapulco and that didn´t let him play in Indian Wells is now cured, which means that he has now a bit less than a month to train hard,to get a good fitness level so that he gains lots of points in Casablanca, where he has high posibilities of getting a great result.

Yesterday,it became official that Ferrero and David Ferrer have reached an agreement on which they will both share the management of the tennis tournament that will be played in Valencia in November. This agreement makes them be the only two active players in the world which are in charge of a tournament.

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Ferrero improves his ranking in one position and might not play in Indian Wells

Eventhough Ferrero didn´t play last week in Acapulco because of his injury,he has improved his ranking by one position and he is now on the 85th position.

In theory, the next tournament he will play will be Indian Wells, but he might not play it as he is still not trainig at a high level and,as he said in his blog,he will only go if he is at 100%.

Lets hope he recover and he comes back at a similar level as he played in the Costa du Sauipen and Buenos Aires,so that he continues improving his ranking.

Sunday, March 1, 2009

Ferrero´s ranking goes up,and now he is is the 86th position!

Well, the good results of Juan Carlos in the South American tour have made him go up in the ranking to position 86, which is a good start for the season. This improvement in the ranking has been possible because of the great results he has achieved in the last weeks, reaching quaterfinals in two consecutive tournaments.

His next tournament will be Indian Wells, where he defends many points (150).As it wiil be hard for him to defend so many points,he will probably be in the draw of Casablanca,so that he can obtain more points and improve his ranking.

Lets all hope Ferrero recovers from the injury he suffered in his match against Nalbandian so that he does great matches in Indian Wells, and hopefully, improve his result from last year.
