Ferrero wins a difficult match against Youzhny and will play against Santoro

Yesterday,Ferrero showed all his quality in a very equalized match against the rusian Youzhny by 6-3 7-6 6-3.This is a very important win as this makes Ferrero have a nice draw which will probably let him go far away in the draw, making him gain more points and therefore improve his ranking. Also,as he is now in the second round of Wimbledon,if he losses next match (where he will play against Santoro),he will not loose positions in the ranking as last year he reached the second round. His next obstacle will be the frenchman Santoro, which he played against in Australia in the beggining of the yaer, but JC was in different conditions,as in February he didnt had any motivation and he was thinking wether to retire or not at the end of the year. However,he is now enjoying his tennis and one evidence of this is that he is always smilling and that in the interview to the prees yesterday,he said that his objective was to finish the year near the Top10,which clearly means he will not retire at the end of the year :)

Ferrero started the match as he usually does, loosing his serve as he was playing as if he didnt know what to do.This meant that he started loosing by 0-2.However,he changed his mind and he started to play very aggresively and leading himself the points, which made the rusian had no option of winning lots of points to JC and Ferrero went to lead the set by 5-2.The rusian won his serve saving one set point, but then Ferrero used his serve doing to aces to end the first set by 6-3-

On the second set,the rusian started completely lost, doing unforced errors in easy points and not having control on his forehand,However,he used his serve all along the set to continue being alive in the set.Ferrero continued doing lots of winners (mainly on his forehand) and they both went into tie break. As soon as it started,we could clearly see the role of each one,as the rusian was the one who was loosing all the points and Ferrero kept in the baseline, finishing most of the points doing passing shots.

On the third and last set,Youzhny knew he was going nowhere with his type of play and he started hitting the ball harder and he also begun to do winners with his backhand. He kept on control on his serves game until in the 3-3,where Juan Carlos started doing some wonderful winners with both backhand and forehand and he finally broked Youzhny´s serve. He ended the macth with two aces on his last serve game, winning a very important match which will probably have given him lots of confidence.
