JC confirms his participance on the tournament of Acapulco

A few days ago,it was confirmed that Juan Carlos will participate in the tournament of Acapulco, which is played between the 22-27 of February.

If Juan Carlos mantains his ranking in the next few weeks,in theory he will be the fourth seeded player. The rest of possible theory playes (in orther of ranking) could be Gonzalez,Monfils,Ferrer,Querrey,Almagro,Monaco,Montañes.

When we get close to the date of this tournament,we will give you more and more info of JC at Acapulco.

Good luck JC!

Ferrero losses against Dodig,in spite of winning the first two sets.

The match lost by Ferrero against Dodig was surprising, difficult to understand as Juan Carlos starting winning the first two sets but the croatian finally won the match and this becomes the second consecutive year where Juan Carlos losses in the first round of the Australian Open.

As the match was not offered in tv,it is very difficult to analyse it,but based on the comments of other fans of Juan Carlos which saw the match in that court,we Know that Juan Carlos started really well the match, dominating the at all time. Also, the croatian started really badly in the first two sets, playing at a poor level. However,as Juan Carlos explains in his official blog,"the calming effect dissapeared and he continued with the pain throughout the match".

After this bad start of the year, where JC has won 0 matches and has lost 2, his next tournaments will be in the South American tour, playing in Costa Du Sauipe,Buenos Aires and Acapulco. We shouldn´t loose the faith on Juan Carlos,as we all remember that last year he started as bad as this one but then he recovered and his comeback was exceptional,so we know that JC is capable of this and im sure that in South America he will win lots and lots of points and why not winning a tournament.

Please, dont loose the faith on JC!

Ferrero vs Dodig on court 13

Juan Carlos will play his match of first round of the Australian Open this night against the croatian Ivan Dodig on court 13. The bad news is that this court has no tv coverage,so the only way to follow JC´s match is by the livescores at the Australian Open webpage, where they show live scores with some statistics, such us aces, winners, unforced errors....

If the rain respects the players and it doens´t fall at Melbourne,JC´s match will be played around 5:00am (british hour).

Good luck JC!

Juan Carlos will play against Ivan Dodig in first round of the Australian Open.

This night, the first Grand Slam of the year will start and we now know who will be the opponent of Juan Carlos in the first round,a croatian called Ivan Dodig. As Juan Carlos is situated in the top half of the main draw, his macth will be played at Monday´s night,so we will have to wait one day more to see Juan Carlos again after his injury at Auckland.

Who is Ivan Dodig?

So that he could get into the Main Draw, this croatian needed to played all the qualies rounds. He is 25 years old and its now ranked in the 185th position of the ranking. In the first tournament he played this year,at Doha,he lost against the belgian Steve Darcis. The most peculiar thing as that, although most of you will not now who Dodig is,last year he played against Juan Carlos in the second round of the qualies at Montreal,in a match that lasted for a bit more than 30 min and which JC won by 6-4 0-1 ret.

If we analyse the statistics of that match, the croatian only did one ace more than JC and in the precentage of first serves,JC was much better than him (85% against 63%). Although Dodig has a good serve, the percentage of points won with his second serve is low, so that is what JC needs to take advantage of so that he can obtain the breaks to reach the victory.

Has Juan Carlos recovered from his injury?

As we can see in a video uploaded on youtube, which was recorded last night,we can see Juan Carlos training, doing some rallies. We can see that he moves without any pain and that he can play at a high level, mantaining long rallies, so we could say that he is mostly recovered.Watch the video of Ferrero training here

Once we know the schedule of Tuesday,we will write here at what time is his match and where you can see it.Hope you recover completely JC!

Ferrero gets injured in his first match, but it seems he will be able to play at Autrslian Open

In his first match of the season,Juan Carlos got injured in his ankle and everything seemed that he would not be able to be ok for the start of the Australian Open.

However,as he said,he would do everything that he could so that he could recover and play at AO and once he arrived to Melbourne,he did a recovery session and he is now feeling much better and he can walk without pain. This was clearly explained in an interview that the spanish sports magazine Marca did to Antonio Martinez Cascales, where he said that he talked with Juan Carlos and he said to him that inflamation was reducing and that he had no pain, therefore he was much better than expected.

As Juan Carlos sees that he can be able to play,he is at the main draw and he will have some not-so-hard players in the first rounds (such as a player coming from qualies for first round or Rajeev Ram in second round). However,we must go step by step and hope that JC continues his recovery and that he acn move in the court without pain.

Recover soon JC!

Ferrero will play his first match of the year this night against Michael Lammer

This night Ferrero will debute in this new season against an unknown player,Michael Lammer. The match will be played at 23:00 spanish hour (22:00 british hour) and we will be able to see it at BET365 and at planetstream.com,where you only need to register and you will be able to see the match.

Todays Opponent of Juan Carlos,Michael Lammer,is a player form Switzerland that was born 27 years ago.Actually, he in now ranked in the 209th position of the ATP and his best ranking was 150.In the last years his ranking has been very low as he doesnt play lots of matches each season (in 2009 he played 6 ATP matches).Lammer has already played in this year,at Doha, where he lost in the first round of the qualies against Koubek, which means that Juan Carlos should win this match easily, without problems.

Here you have a video where you can see how is the serve and the forehand of Michael Lammer.Good Luck JC!

Great draw for Juan Carlos in Auckland

Juan Carlos must be really happy due to the magnific draw that he has for the first tournament of the season,Auckland. In here,he will be the third seeded player, and he is already in second round as in this tournament, the first four seeded players go directly to second round by Bye.

In the second round,he will play against the winner of a match between two players of the qualies, therefore his first match of the season should not be tough for him.In quarterfinals,in theory he will play against Albert Montañes (8th seeded player and actually 31 in the ATP ranking). In this match he also should win without difficulties and in semis he will probably play against Tommy Robredo or Monaco,a match that clearly will be much difficult than the first ones.In conclusion,Juan Carlos has a great opportunity here to obtain lots of points to improve his ranking and why not starting the season reaching the final.

Once we know who is JC´s opponent,we will analyse him in detail.Good luck JC!

Hope that Juan Carlos achieves some great results with Joma :)

Only two days left to see Ferrero again on court

Finally, this new season has already started and there are only two days left to see again Juan Carlos playing. This will happen in the Heineken Open of Auckland (New Zeland).Last year,in this tournament,Juan Carlos reached the second round, which means that if he does a good job and reaches into the last rounds,he will win lots of points and he will be closer to the objective of the Top 15.

Juan Carlos will play as the third seeded player,so if he plays as he did at the exhibition tournament at Bilbao,he should reach semifinals. The first seeded player will be Tommy Robredo (16) (which Ferrero won in the exhibition tournament at semifinals) and the second one will be David Ferrer (hero of the last Davis Cup final).Other seeded players will be Almagro (24), Kolschreiber (27), Melzer (28), Monaco (30) and Montañes (31).

Dont forget that as this Auckland tournament is played one week before the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open,so it is the perfect place so that Juan Carlos gains confidence and gets a good play before this important tournament. Also remember that two years ago,in 2008,Juan Carlos reached the final, where he lost against the german Kolschreiber.
