Ferrero wil play doubles with Ferrer in Valencia

This thursday became oficial that Juan Carlos Ferrero and David Ferrer will play together in doubles in the Open 500 of Valencia. As they both said, they are doing this because its a really good ocasion to play together as they will be in a very special place for them. This means that Juan Carlos will play again doubles after not playing in this category since a lot time ago. This feeling will be more or less new for Juan Carlos,as probably he hasnt played more than 30 doubles matches in his career, the last one long ago.

This weekend, both Juan Carlos and David Ferrer also met in a meeting thay had with the president of the Comunidad Valenciana (Francisco Camps) on the Valencia Club of tennis to discuss how the future tournament of Valencia was going.Everyone was amazed by the great quality level of all the players who will play in this tournament, being its first edition, which is very surprising.

Finally,Ferrero showed to everyone in his blog which will be his next three tournaments that he will play, which will be:
1)Beijing
2)Shangai
3)Estocolmo

Ferrero will go to the Davis Cup and will go into the 21th position of the ATP ranking

Finally,Juan Carlos Ferrero will take part in the Davis Cup semifinals that the Spanish team need to play against Israel.Firstly,Albert Costa told Ferrero that he was not going because he needed a player for the doubles, but he wanted that JC was prepared in case there was necesity and JC had to play in Murcia.

This has happened,as Nadal will not take part due to physical problems, although he is still playing at the US Open.In theory,as Nadal and Verdasco are both not playing,JC has high chances of playing the singles,on which we hope he can win the two points and he can be again the spanish hero of the Davis Cup.

Also, there is a very good notice.Because of the great tournament Ferrero did at the US Open, reaching 1/8 finals,he has gained 180 points which will let him improve his ranking into the 21st position and he will be at less than 100 points of the TOP 20 players, one of his aims to be at when the season finishes.

Ferrero wins against G.Simon by 1-6 6-4 7-6 1-0 ret

Juan Carlos Ferrero is through to the fourth round of the US Open for the first time since his run through to the final in 2003 (l. to Roddick). The Spaniard advanced Sunday in New York at the expense of ninth-seeded Frenchman Gilles Simon, who was forced to retire with a right leg injury with Ferrero leading 1-6, 6-4, 7-6(5), 1-0.

Former World No. 1 Ferrero has staged a mighty resurgence into the upper echelons of the ATP World Tour in 2009, highlighted by ending a six-year title drought in Casablanca (d. Serra), and has now reached the fourth round at two Grand Slams in the same year for the first time since his career-best season in 2003.

The Villena resident, who was a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon two months ago (l. to Murray), peaked at No. 1 in the South African Airways ATP Rankings on 8 September 2003 – the same year he won his first major title at Roland Garros (d. Verkerk) and finished runner-up to Andy Roddick at Flushing Meadows. He dropped to No. 115 on 6 April this year – his lowest ranking in 10 years – but has since recovered his position to No. 25.

“Physically I'm completely different,” said Ferrero, in attributing his success this season. “I'm feeling great on the court, so I can play a lot of rallies as long as it is. I recovered well after matches, so that's the big difference in maybe couple of years.”

Despite a slow start for Ferrero in the first match of the day on the Louis Armstrong Stadium, the Spaniard had hit back well to take a two-set-to-one lead over Simon – who sustained his injury in the latter stages of the third set. Ferrero had broken to lead 1-0 in the fourth set when Simon was forced to concede defeat. The Frenchman has also performed well in Grand Slam competition in 2009, reaching his first quarter-final at the Australian Open (l. to Nadal) and the fourth round for the first time at Wimbledon, where he also fell victim to Ferrero.

Ferrero will play in first round of the US Open against Santoro

After having a short holiday,Juan Carlos Ferrero will come back to the courts this week,at New York, where he will play the fourth grandslam of the year, the US Open. This grandslam is very important for him:

1)He needs to obtain a good result so that he has good options to be a member of the Davis Cup team which will play in september the semifinals against Israel.Ferrero needs a better result than players like Verdasco,Robredo,Ferrer...so that he can be again at the Davis Cup and why not,be again the hero of the spanish team.

2)JC again will play a granslam being a seeded player, which didnt happen since Roland Garros, where his poor ranking made him pass to Main draw with a wildcard. Also, remember that last year he didnt play at US Open,so he doesnt defend any point,so he needs a good performance to improve his ranking to the 22 position.

As an overall,JC has a nice draw, with easy matches in first and second round:

6] Del Potro vs Monaco
Melzer vs Safin
Cuevas vs Guccione
Koellerer vs [25] Fish

[24] Ferrero vs Santoro
Petzschner vs Stakhovsky
Q vs Lu
Ginemo-Traver vs [9] Simon

[16] Cilic vs Sweeting
Gabashvili vs Levine
Istomin vs Evans
Lapentti vs [19] Wawrinka

[27] Karlovic vs Navarro
Lopez vs Dent
Capdeville vs Crivoi
Gulbis vs [2] Murray

As you can see, once more this year,Ferrero will play against Santoro,a player who he meet twice in this year, both times in grandslams (at Australian Open, where he lost to him and at Wimbledon, where he easily won the frenchmen)
